The American College of General Practitioners (ACGME) has announced the nominees for the 2017 “Best Medical Practice” and “Best Pharmacy Technology” awards.
The winners will be announced in November.
The Best Medical Practices and Best Health Care Technology awards were announced at the ACGMA’s annual meeting in Las Vegas.
The ACGme also announced that two new ACGMe Best Medical Services awards have been announced: Best Clinical Services for the Diagnosis of Pain and Best Behavioral Health Care.
Both of those awards recognize outstanding clinical and behavioral health care and services for individuals with physical or mental health issues.
The ACG Medicine awards are for “the discovery and application of novel drugs and other therapeutic agents for the treatment of chronic diseases and conditions, including cancer, HIV/AIDS, depression, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease.”
The ACGs Best Clinical Sciences award is for the discovery of new drugs and/or therapeutic agents to treat serious chronic conditions, the second of which is awarded to researchers at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.
The third award is to “develop novel treatments for a disease or condition.”
The other ACGM Best Clinical Science award is awarded for “development of novel therapies for the management of serious chronic diseases, including heart disease, cancer, hypertension, diabetes and other conditions, and for the development of innovative therapies to prevent or treat those conditions.”
The Best Behavioral Healthcare award is “for the discovery and implementation of novel therapeutic agents, including new therapies, that may be of benefit to individuals, families, and communities.
The award is also for the demonstration of potential efficacy and cost-effectiveness of these novel therapies in the clinical trials to be conducted by clinical researchers.”
Both awards were unveiled at the 2017 conference in Las Villas, Nevada, which featured several notable ACGMM and ACGMED members.
The 2017 conference was also the first to be held in the United States since the organization merged in 2014.
ACGmed was the first ACGAMA to be awarded the ACMUS award in 2019.
